  4. How long will it take to see improvement with the recommended treatment?
  5. What are the possible side effects of the medications you’re prescribing?
  6. How will you monitor the effectiveness of my treatment plan?
  7. What should I do if I don’t experience relief or if my pain worsens?

Will anyone call me back after the clinic closes?

If you’re trying to schedule an appointment, our team will call you back during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, from 8am to 4:30pm. For emergencies related to your care plan, please contact the nurse triage line at 763-537-7476.

How long is my first appointment going to be?

We ask that you arrive 15 minutes early to complete our new patient questionnaire. Your initial evaluation appointment at Nura typically lasts about 30 to 45 minutes. This allows us enough time to discuss your medical history, conduct an initial assessment and develop your personalized treatment plan. Please be aware that our clinic schedule occasionally runs behind to accommodate other patients. We appreciate your patience when this happens.

Who will I see during my appointment?

During your initial visit to Nura, you’ll meet with one of our pain specialists who will assess your condition and develop a personalized treatment plan. For all follow-up visits, you’ll see one of our Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) who will manage your ongoing care. Rest assured — our team of pain specialists will continue to oversee your treatment and you’ll have the opportunity to consult with them whenever needed.

Will my prescription be filled at my Nura clinic visit?

During your first visit, Nura providers may or may not prescribe opioids. If opioids are continued, they will be prescribed on a limited basis for a defined period while we work to accurately diagnose and treat your pain using therapeutic injections, nerve ablation and implantable pain control options, along with coordinated physical therapy and psychological treatments as needed.

How often do I have to come back for refills of my opioid prescription?

Opioids carry significant risks, including the potential for dependence, overdose, side effects and misuse. To manage these risks, we follow strict guidelines designed to ensure both your safety and the effectiveness of your treatment. Your full commitment to attending all scheduled clinic appointments is essential. These appointments, typically held monthly or more frequently, are when prescriptions are dispensed.

Can I just get medication?

At Nura, we prioritize a comprehensive approach to managing severe, chronic pain rather than solely relying on medication. Studies show that a multidisciplinary treatment plan — like advanced procedures, physical therapy, and counseling — is most effective results while minimizing the need for opioids. This method helps improve your overall health and offers more options for pain relief. By using a comprehensive plan, we aim to provide you with more effective and long-lasting solutions that fit your needs.

Will Nura communicate my care plan notes back to my referring provider?

If you were referred to Nura, we will send your visit notes and treatment plan to your primary care provider once you have signed the Release of Information form.

Can I have two injections in the same day?

Typically, no — you usually cannot receive two injection procedures on the same day. This is often due to insurance provider policies, as most do not cover multiple procedures within a single day.

What location do I visit for procedures?

Procedures and implants are performed at our same-day Surgery Center in Edina.

How do I prepare for my procedure if I’m planning to have sedation?

If you’re planning to have sedation for your procedure, you’ll need to follow a few important steps.

  • First, make sure to arrange for someone to drive you to and from your appointment.  You will not be allowed to drive yourself home.
  • Do not eat or drink anything for 8 hours before your scheduled procedure. This includes food, beverages, gum, mints and hard candies. You may take your prescribed medications with a small sip of water.
  • If you’re on a blood thinner or GLP-1 medication, you might be asked to pause it before your procedure — please contact our clinic for further guidance.
